Cornish Christians' Concern for
Climate Change and Creation

Here are some ideas, to be used by schools, to both help save the environment and to raise issues about Global issues in the class room. You will find ideas from other schools in Cornwall. These have been tried and tested by people like your-self. Being involved in such issues help to make the whole school community just how important it is for everyone to be involved in helping to save the planet.

You will find practical ideas of just how to help make this part of your school ethos. You will also find ways to link global issues with RE and Collective worship. Why not plan a whole school focus day on environmental issues or have an ongoing project in your school grounds?

The YEAR of FOOD and FARMING is a campaign to promote healthy living by giving young people direct experience of countryside, farming and food.

During the Year children will have the opportunity to:

• follow the story from 'field to fork'
• explore the importance of food
• make informed decisions about food and healthy nutrition
• watch what happens on a real-life farm
• experience what the countryside can offer
• learn more about environmental issues linked to food and the countryside

The Year runs from September 2007 to July 2008. It will provide materials and opportunities in the following Curriculum areas PHSE, Science, Design and Technology, Geography as well as other curriculum areas. The website states:

“It will help your school to achieve the Healthy Schools Standard, as well as supporting the Learning outside the classroom manifesto.
The Year will give schools the chance to showcase their work and share ideas with other schools. It will also help to create strong links between schools and food and farming businesses, and provide educational materials that will last beyond the Year itself.”
